About

Hi, I’m Sammi, the photographer and creator behind Found in Nomadland.

This space is dedicated to the landscapes, wildlife, and roadside stories that make travel unforgettable. I focus on nature and national parks, scenic backroads, and the quiet, often overlooked places that hold real atmosphere and meaning.

I have a particular love for the mythic American road trip, especially Route 66, where vintage motels, desert light, and small-town Americana still feel alive. My work is rooted in exploration, visual storytelling, and the pursuit of wonder in wide open places.

The Nomad Encyclopedia

One of my central projects is The Nomad Encyclopedia, a growing travel archive built state by state.

It is part field guide, part destination index, and part personal record of the places I’ve been and the places I’m still chasing. The goal is to create a long-term resource for travelers, photographers, and curious wanderers looking for memorable stops, natural beauty, and iconic American landscapes.

The public First Edition beta is available for free on this site and will continue expanding over time.

A Different Kind of Travel Perspective

My path has not always followed the typical pace of travel culture. Ongoing physical health challenges have shaped how I move through the world, often requiring more intention and resilience than most people see.

That experience has only deepened my relationship with nature. The outdoors has become both a creative focus and a kind of grounding force, and it continues to influence the way I document the world.

Prints, Digital Work, and Licensing

In addition to sharing my photography here, I offer selected work through my Etsy shop, Nomadland Studios, and license travel and nature imagery through Shutterstock.

This project is an evolving body of work, built over miles, seasons, and years.
